The workshop focuses on the design a professional theatre mask which has an instant impact on stage. After a theoretical introduction every participant will learn to create a mask built in a negative plaster mold taken from a form modelled in clay.
The lessons involve
– Theory: Working with social and cultural codes, requirements of a theatre mask
– Introduction to artistic skills, handcrafts and materials
– Designing mask
– Clay model
– Plaster mold and papier-mâché
– Surface treatment, painting, special finish, fitting
Teachers:
Finbarr Ryan, Ireland – mask making, performing the mask
Petra Föhrenbach, Germany – mask making, cultural and historical background
Price: 2.250 kr (300 Euro) including materials
